Agency Overview
American Insurance was established on January 1, 1998. We initially began operations in two states, Michigan and Ohio. We have had continued growth and, today, are now licensed in 14 states. We carry several product lines for our clients including: Health Insurance, Life Insurance, Disability Coverage, Annuities, Dental, Optical, Medical Supplements and several Specialty Products. Within each product line, we represent several of the leading Insurance Companies operating today. This allows us to offer coverages specific to our clients needs. And, although we represent some of the largest and most well respected Insurance Companies today, we are year in and year out one of their leading Agencies in Production. That gives us leverage - and allows us to create an opportunity for our Agent Sales Force not available elsewhere.
Financial Opportunity
$100K+......For the Right Person
$60 - $80K+ 1st Year Average
Very few industries can offer the financial opportunity that Insurance can. We have a significant portion of our sales force currently earning in excess of $100,000 and that is really what we gear this opportunity towards. Our Agents AVERAGE $70,000 in their first year with us. There are several reasons why our compensation structure allows our Agents to accomplish this.
- Top contracts with our Carriers: Because of the volumes of business American Insurance produces for our Carriers, we are able to secure compensation contracts other Agencies cannot. This allows us to offer higher contracts to our sales force.
- Advance Commissions: Most opportunities in the Insurance Industry require an Agent to wait until the application for Insurance is approved and paid on by the Insurance Company before any commission is paid to the Agent. This process can take up to 8 weeks! At American Insurance, we advance your commissions in the same week you write your business! It works like a draw against future commissions and enables you to get to a very reasonable income level quickly.
- Monthly/Quarterly Bonuses: We enhance your earning potential by making monthly and quarterly bonuses available to you based upon your performance.
- Renewal Income: This is a real Advantage to a career in Insurance. Unlike most sales careers (Auto, Mortgage, Real Estate, etc.) where you only earn a one-time commission. In Insurance, as long as your client remains active, you continue to receive renewal commission payments. Many Agents at American Insurance are receiving tens of thousands of dollars a year from sales they made in previous years...and these amounts continue to increase each year! This in addition to their regular commission earnings and bonuses!
Top Companies/Products
American Insurance holds a tremendous advantage over most career Agencies because, although we represent many of the leading Insurance Carriers today, we have no obligation to maintain a relationship with any of them. What does this mean? If a Company we represent ever enacts changes we feel are detrimental to our Agency or our clients, we have the ability to cease representing them and can simply replace them with an Insurance Company that better suits those needs. Or, if a Company enters the market with a plan more competitive than what we have, we can add them to our portfolio. This flexibility assures you that American Insurance will always possess the most competitive product portfolio available in the marketplace. As an Agent for us, this gives you the security in knowing you will always hold an edge by having access to the most competitive product lines available at any given time. At American Insurance, we'll stack our product portfolio up against anyone's!
Lead Programs
At American Insurance, we realize that the most important aspect of any sales opportunity is getting in front of quality prospects who are in the market for your goods and services. At American Insurance, we have multiple quality lead programs designed to get you in front prospects each and every week. Some of the lead programs are:
- Referrals (backed by a client compensation package)
- Many Other Quality Lead Systems
As you examine our lead systems, it's important to note two things. First, you'll see that absent from our system is "cold calling" and we are not going to ask you to make a list of your closest 100 family, friends, neighbors, etc. Second, as you consider the various lead systems we use at American Insurance, please realize that our clients are either coming from referrals or are responding to one of our programs. Our clients call us!
In addition to our on going Lead Programs, we provide you with our new agent "Fast Start" program. It is designed to get you in front of quality prospects and start making money right out of the gate. This "Fast Start" program helps make the transition during your most criticail period, the 1st six weeks, successful and smooth. At American Insurance, by investing in you and supplying you with the tools you need to succeed, we provide you with an unparalleled opportunity in the insurance industry.
Flexible Schedule
We know that most new Agents at American Insurance focus primarily on the financial opportunity available. It's easy to understand why considering the lucrative potential it can offer. But a healthy income is only one part of an enviable lifestyle. To be successful financially working our system requires you to commit 40-45 hours a week, but you set your own schedule. This flexibility allows you to truly establish a lifestyle where you are in total control of your own life. Isn't it time to stop working for someone else and start working for yourself and your future?
Incentive and Award Programs
At American Insurance, we believe in rewarding our Agents. So, we offer numerous sales incentive programs which our Career Agents can qualify for. From monthly and quarterly awards, all the way up to our annual sales trips, we treat our Agents to the absolute finest incentives in the industry.
We sponsor an annual trip to many exotic locations all over the world which include roundtrip airfare for two; deluxe accommodations at the finest hotels; meals; day trips; etc. In recent years we've taken our Agents to such locations as:
Can you imagine a better way to spend a week in February than at a beautiful, world class resort all paid for by someone else?! At American Insurance, we turn those dreams into realities!
And that's not all. Several of our Insurance Carriers also offer sales promotions too! Trips, cash bonuses up to $10,000, and many other awards are available to our Agents through these companies. Many of our Agents qualify for 2-3 trips per year, as well as, cash incentives and other awards! At American Insurance, we provide our Agents with the opportunity to create a lifestyle for themselves that others only dream about.

Work Our Proven System
At American Insurance, we have an established sales system that we've perfected and is unique in our industry. This system is what has made us the premiere Agency in our industry today. We offer full training to all our new Agents on this system. In addition, we have a mentorship program for all new Agents at American Insurance. As a new Agent, you have the luxury of working directly with one of our managers. This is an individual who is an experienced, top producing Agent with us and who is compensated based upon how well you do! This mentorship program gives you the edge and instant experience you need to attain success with us on a fast track. With our proven sales and marketing system, backed up with our mentorship program, we have been able to put many Agents into a six figure income bracket within their first year with us.
And it doesn't end there! We have a weekly sales meeting and ongoing training sessions to keep you abreast of the latest sales and marketing ideas, as well as, changing industry trends, competitors products, etc. Everything you need to know to keep you ahead of the competition and to be a top producer with us.

Full Service Agency Support
At American Insurance, we refuse to take a backseat to any other Agency when it comes to service. We back our Agents up with the top sales support in the industry. Our philosophy is, "You Sell...We do the Rest!" At most Agencies, the Agent is forced to handle most of the administrative tasks associated with the sales process. Although certainly necessary, they take away from your productive sales time, which is where you earn your living. At American Insurance, some of the services we provide for you include:
- Handling of all client claim situations
- Pull pending status reports on every piece of business, every day, and do whatever is necessary to get your business issued and paid on.
- Order and follow up on paramed exams
- Handle all doctor's records requests
- Supply all commission reports and client information
- Provide all supplies and software...free of charge!
Additionally, we provide you with Agency sponsored Errors and Omissions coverage. You are automatically covered from the day you start with us. At American Insurance, we support and protect our Agents so you can concentrate on selling.
Management Opportunities
Are you looking for a career in management? American Insurance may be just the place for you! Because of our continued growth, we are looking for those who possess the ability to step into a sales management position once they learn our system. We promote from within totally based upon your performance. Our managers are compensated not only on their personal production, but also receive lucrative override commissions based upon the performance of the Sub-Agents assigned to them. As a manager at American Insurance, you have the ability to earn $100-$350,000 and up!! And, you also receive renewal override commissions on every single sale your Sub-Agents make. If you have the desire and ability to effectively work with and teach others what you know, a management position with American Insurance could be exactly the career choice you've been looking for!
Why American Insurance?
Since our inception, we have continued to grow at an exceptional pace. Even in recent years, while the economy in general has been poor, we have still maintained a tremendous growth rate. One of the most frequently asked questions by those looking at this opportunity is "why?" What makes us different? There are really three reasons that today, have caused American Insurance to continue to excel and set us apart and distinguish us from other opportunities today.
- 1. Recession Proof Industry: Although we do well and would prefer to see a strong, vibrant economy, when the economy does take a down-turn, it actually benefits us. First, as businesses close or down-size, displaced employees enter the market for benefit plans. Since this is our niche market, it actually increases our potential client base. Related to this is that, more and more companies are cutting the benefits they supply to their employees. This has the same effect of forcing these individuals to purchase their own benefits. Again, this is our target market. Also, it has brought us many good, quality Agents who probably would never have considered a career in Insurance Sales. Then, they became a victim of the economy and reluctantly found themselves looking for a new career. Some of our top Agents and even Managers today would have never envisioned themselves in Insurance Sales just a few years ago. So, a slow economy has helped to increase our growth.
- 2. Unique Niche Market We intentionally focus our marketing on small business owners and the self-employed. This differentiates us from the rest of the industry. When it comes to benefit programs, most of the insurance industry chases after large businesses. The bigger you are, they more they are after you. Yet the fastest growing business segment today is...you guessed it - small business and the self-employed. The very market most of our industry ignores. Intentionally focusing our efforts in this market has, and continues to, pay big dividends for us at American Insurance.
- 3. Career Agency There seems to be two primary schools of thought when it comes to being an insurance Agent. Either you are a "captive" Agent working for a single company or you are an Insurance "Broker" representing dozens of Companies. The advantage to being a captive agent is, since you are working strictly for them, your company provides a great deal of support. Lead programs, advance commissions, incentive programs, administrative help, etc. The downside is a very limited product portfolio. The advantage of being a Broker is access to all the products you need, however, the support structure critical to most Agents success is no longer provided. What we've done at American Insurance has been to put the best of both these options together in a "Career" Agency. We represent several of the leading Insurance Companies operating today, giving our Agents the flexibility of products enjoyed by most Brokers. What we've maintained, however, is the support structure enjoyed by captive agents. Free leads; an exceptional advance structure; incentive programs; sales support; etc. At American Insurance, we provide our Agents with the best of both worlds.
We're different - We're Better!
Is This Opportunity Right for You?!
Frankly, although this can be an incredible opportunity for the right person, it absolutely is not for everybody. How do you know if it's for you or not? If you possess the following qualifications and traits, this may be the career you've been looking for. If you do not, it most likely will not be a good fit and you should not pursue it. But, if you:
- Have a sales and/or management background, or previously owned a business, and...
- Posses a solid, aggressive work ethic, and...
- Are coachable and able to learn and follow a proven system, and...
- Have a strong, internal desire for success, then

Personal Agent Testimonials
Brian Mariotti
Senior Sales Director
What first attracted me to American Insurance was the flexibility of my schedule. I am a new father of two boys, and both mine and my wife's extended family live in Ohio. We spend at least one three day weekend a month in Columbus, and I would not have been able to travel so frequently with my previous career. In fact my old job kept me working nights, weekends and holidays. Not only did I lose out on time at home with my family, but I was able to travel home no more than twice a year.
Of course the income potential was also a deciding factor. In most careers you make the same wage no matter how hard you work; however, as an insurance agent your income is directly proportional to how much time you invest. If I want a pay raise, I put in a few extra hours, close another deal, and I have earned myself a raise. It is just that easy.
I cannot say that my first year was without challenge. To start a new career and build up my own clientele has taken quite a bit of hard work, but it has been well worth it. I have moved up one contract level, and things are now going so well for me that the second should come faster than the first. American Insurance has provided me the opportunity to really create a lifestyle - not just earn a living and merely get by.

Joshua Kushnereit
Regional Sales Director
I began my sales career with American Insurance back in the summer of 2004 largely because I was interested in having the ability to set my own schedule while earning an income directly related to my personal productivity. At the time of joining American Insurance I was going to college full time, while also working as a legal assistant at a local law firm. Although I enjoyed the work as a legal assistant, I did not enjoy the pay. Much like any job as an employee, the harder I worked did not necessarily equal greater pay. Plus, I often found myself missing out on various social functions due to my obligation to be punched in from 8am-6pm, sometimes even later.
After passing the state's health, life and disability licensing test, my goal was to ease into selling insurance while still working at the law firm and attending classes. It quickly became evident that I was spreading myself too thin, so I decided to give the sales career a fair chance by quitting my previous job to sell insurance full time. The first couple of weeks were rather trying, primarily because this was my first position in sales. However, my hard work paid off and soon I found myself making 3-5 times as much income per week as I did working as a legal assistant. What made this even more beneficial was the fact that I was able to plan my own schedule allowing me to better focus on other priorities, such as school, which I also found myself doing better at.
Today I can honestly say that I love my job. In fact, many days I can't believe that someone is actually paying me to do what I do. Even more important than the great pay, I have had the privilege of meeting many great families throughout the Metro Detroit area and have managed to help them out with one of their greatest needs; their health insurance. It is a great feeling to know that I have helped improve a family's benefits, many times at a cost-savings. As you can imagine, in this business it is easy to turn clients into friends considering that you are helping them out and saving them money.
In addition to my love for the industry, I am also happy to be a part of American Insurance. Unlike many other Agencies that I have heard of where cut-throat sales occur as fellow-agents step on each other's feet in order to get the deal, here we have a community of agents who are truly willing to help one another so that the entire Agency may be uplifted. I cannot emphasize how crucial it was to my success as an Agent to have a supporting management team, underwriting staff, and personalized training program. I must admit, I am also a fan of the sales incentives provided here at American Insurance. In our weekly sales meetings, top-producing Agents are rewarded with cash, leads, Pistons tickets, and even weekend getaways for their weekly sales performance. Best of all, each year the Agency has "Champion's Week," which is a week long, 5-star vacation fully paid for by American Insurance. Past trips have been to Cancun and Puerto Vallarta.
There is no better time to work as a health and life insurance Agent as the marketplace continues to expand with layoffs and other hardships that generally hurt the economy, where people need to be helped. As our Agency continues to grow, I am happy to be a part of American Insurance.
